It doesn’t matter where you’re beginning, the same simple steps apply to everyone on Instagram. There are a few necessary things when using Instagram that will increase your rate of success for company engagement. It may be a little time consuming, but with a little work it’ll pay off in the long run.
Choosing Your Instagram Photography Subject
First, it’s important to understand that what you post on Instagram is what you will receive in return.
If you’re looking to engage a company on Instagram then the best way would be to photograph their product. Pick a product of theirs that you truly enjoy. When you photograph it, do so to be sure that it is best representing its utilization in real life.
Reaching the Target Audience
The biggest factor for future followers, or a company, to see an Instagram post is to use the appropriate hashtags.
To use a beach model example, hashtags like #goldenhour, #beachphotographer, or #goldenhourbeachphotos are ideal. These hashtags put the photo in front of the Instagram users that are most interested in that kind of photo.
If you post a photo of a model wearing a company’s sunglasses, you’d get that sunglasses company’s attention by using their company name in a hashtag.
The photo below is an example of successfully capturing a company’s attention.
When I used my camera for this picture I was interested in the reflection on these sunglasses, so naturally, I made sure that the sharpness of the focus was on the lenses of the sunglasses.
After taking this photo, I organically reached the company who makes these sunglasses. The model in the photo posted the photo on her Instagram and used the company’s hashtags in her post. That’s how simple it was.
Get Credited When A Company Notices
Here’s something to really key into: Don’t let the company not credit you if they re-post your photo.
If a company shares your photo or re-posts it, you deserve a tag on the photo. You could also get a tag in the description. Don’t hesitate to direct message the company for a tag, sometimes a comment on the photo is just enough. Don’t forget that, if you wanted, you could even request for financial compensation, if you’re willing to go that far. However, this will most likely end up having the company move on from your photo. This will leave you where you started. This is why sometimes the bragging rights that the company recognized you is worth more than money in the end.
Extra Tip: Use Specific Hashtags
Hashtags can be very popular and that’s a good thing for discovery. But, when a hashtag has millions of posts under it, it is hard to get views. This is why it is important to be as specific as can be with hashtags. Don’t use #photography when #greencarphotography is what best describes your photo.
